“We all start where we start. Not a step farther ahead or behind. And we can’t spend our time worrying and complaining about WHY we are where we are.
We just have to pick up from there and move forward.”
Recently Jemale and Tameshia found themselves in a bad spot. They were frustrated with life and had lost touch with their beautiful and exceptional daughter, Melody. Melody had left home, and they felt lost.
What should they do? They decided to get some advice from a counselor they had heard of, a man named Chuck Singleton. That was the beginning of a spiritual transformation that would change their lives.
The search for Melody was no joke. Her parents worried for her safety and determined that when she came back, things would be different.
One-by-one, Jemale and Tameshia came to faith in Jesus as their Savior. Already, a change was taking place in their hearts and attitudes. They began to pray and read God’s Word. Instead of looking back, they moved ahead.
They moved their bed into the living room by the door so that, if Melody came home, they’d be sure to hear her knock. They came to Loveland and found a new family of friends there. Real friends who were willing to stand with them in their journey.
Though there were and will continue to be challenges, this is already a story with a happy ending.
Melody came back home. Her mom and dad were somehow different – and she liked it. Jemale was trying to be a more attentive father. Tameshia has gotten closer to Melody. Melody has cautious hope.
They now have a church home. They can be seen together on most Sunday mornings, grinning from ear-to-ear. And while there are still challenges (among which, Jemale is looking for a good job), they are working together to figure things out.
By the way, they recently got married. If you see them on Sunday, be sure to give them a big hug!
“For through the Spirit we eager;y await by faith the righteousness for which we hope” – Galatians 5:5 NIV
