The flashing eyes in the dark were a big cat of some kind, but I kept moving. Another night it was a bear family… I moved quickly the other way. In some of my prayer times, I’ve heard the rustling of night animals in the dark of mountain canyons or been relieved when I saw deer families. I’ve stood at the peak of fog-covered mountains in prayer.
I’m certain I’ve known the voice of God with directions of great consequence in prayer. Exhilarating Joy, shouts of Hallelujah, and unexplainable peace have often come in my secluded times of prayer. For years I’ve marveled before the Lord that no matter how great the trial or how piercing the struggle, I’ve rarely left a time of prayer without unbelievable peace. From the struggles of the day has invariably come God’s peace.
…I wrote this book because when I looked back over my life, God showed me three things that were constant challenges. I realized that l even tended to wake up every day with one of these three ways of thinking. And I needed to vanquish them. They met me at Critical Places in my life and often caused me defeat… God showed me! I need to decide how I will think. The three for me were fear, doubt, and discouragement.
As many as there have been and as exciting as they tend to be, those moments of bright mountaintop prayer are unusual. Most days of prayer for me begin in the quietness of the morning. There, I find my mind being lifted to the new day. But, notice, my mind usually needs to be lifted. Yours probably does too There is a tendency, that when left alone, the mind will fight against staying lifted…
Perhaps this is what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote, “and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,” (Ephesians 4:23). I’ve learned the importance of starting with a quiet moment bowing before God.
3 times David asked his own mind a question, “Why are you cast down, O my soul?” He answered himself, “Hope in God, for I shall yet praise him.” Psalm 43:5
I wrote this book to decide for myself, before God, how I’ll think today and each day. Here, you’ll find 100 Quiet Times for your trust in a loving God and your growth in the faith.
This is your copy. I’ve prayed that it will bless your mind and spirit as much as it has blessed me.
