COVID Relief Prayer & Fast

14if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

When God’s people pray, something powerful happens 

16 [a]Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, [b]fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.(James 5:16) 

We’re calling on God’s people to join us on January 31st for a day of fasting and prayer for relief from COVID. When God’s people come together in prayer , GOD ANSWERS! (Jeremiah 33:3, Psalm 50:14-16) 

Why fast? Jesus teaches us special power is accessed through prayer and fasting:

However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Matthew 17:21

The point of a fast is to temporarily abstain from something enjoyable so that you can instead focus on seeking God in prayer.

Before you begin your fast, talk to your doctor about the type of fast you want to do, especially if you have a medical condition. 

Here are a few types of fasts

1. Total fast– this is where you abstain from all food. Again, talk to your doctor before doing this, and make sure you drink plenty of water

2. Daniel fast– this is a fast taken from Daniel 1:6-20. With this fast you obstain from animal products and sugar, and stick to a vegan diet. 

3. Social Media or TV fast– although this mean seem superficial, this type of fast is just as sacrificial for some as fasting from food! With this fast you completely disconnect from all social media or TV. instead of talking to people online focus on talking to God. 

Pray and talk to God about which fast is best for you. Remember the most important thing about a fast is not the fact that you’re giving up something, its the fact that you are giving it up to focus on God more!
